Caption: "A workman climbs the back of the famed Coca-Cola sign in downtown Atlanta as preparations began Thursday for its dismantling. The sign, which as stood in its Margaret Mitchell Square location since 1949, will be cut up into 1,000 one-inch square blocks to be presented to the Atlanta Historical Society for use as souvenirs. A downtown landmark, the sign is being torn down to make room for a city park to be built in conjunction with the 52-story headquarters building for the Georgia-Pacific Corp., whose steel girders rise behind the sign.
