- Description:
- Caption: "Women Fight Litter. Anyone passing through Five Points area Wednesday possibly wondered what in the world a group of women were doing picking up paper and wearing sandwich boards. One might think they were picketing something. Well, they were- litter. This is anti-litter week and members of the Women's Chamber of Commerce of Atlanta are responsible for it. Mrs. Rebecca Collins, chairman of the group's Atlanta Beautiful committee is doing her part to help rid the city of litter. The women began their project wearing signs which say 'Atlanta is Beautiful ONLY if it is Clean.' Since the committee planted trees around the area some citizens have been using the base as litter catchers. the women hope to make the entire population beauty conscious and ask the help of everyone in keeping Atlanta clean so it will be more beautiful. March 30, 1966 Journal."
