- Two newspaper captions attached to print verso: "Firemen Use Ladders To Gain Second Floor. As smoke, flames envelop house on Haynes St." (date-stamped "Dec 21 1954), and "Slums Breed More Than Filth And Disease -- Fires. Ten families were left homeless when flames quickly destroyed building" (date-stamped "May 25 1959"). Photographer either Guy Hayes (verso stamped "Guy Hayes" and he is credited in 1959 caption) or Hugh Stovall (he is credited in 1954 caption).
