- Caption: "Winecoff Fire Hose Introduced as Evidence. Joe Mansell (left), special investigator, and Solicitor E. E. Andrews, display a hole-riddled 50-foot length of fire hose taken from the mezzanine (second) floor of the Winecoff Hotel. The hose was introduced as evidence at the grand jury investigation of that fire of Dec. 7. Solicitor Andrews asserted the hose has at least 32 holes plus numberous abrasions. Stenciled markings indidcate the hose was manufactured in 1913. Authorities say the hose contained water when found which indicates that someone attempted to use it during the fire but found it useless because 'water came out everywhere except at the nozzle.'
