- Description:
- Printed on back: "'The Great Locomotive Chase' Disney premiere in Atlanta" Caption: "'Disneyland parade' had floats, frolickers. A Friday morning downtown parade featuring Disney characters, stars of 'The Great Locomotive Chase,' beauty queens, and bands held plenty of thrills. In the photo at left, Mary Ann Ailoa, right, snaps a picture of her sister Susan Iola with Yaraab Temple Red Devils Charlie Parker, left, and B. I. Edwards. At right is the 'Little Showboat' float. The hour-long parade had Walt Disney riding in the Legion's '40 and 8' engine. One bit of unscheduled excitement: A truck in the parade burst into flames which were quickly extinguished by an Atlanta Fire Dept. unit which happened to be just behind it in the line of march. Favors, including balloons, flowers and ice cream, kept young Mouseketeers onthe sidelines squealing. The colorful parade was part of two-day preliminary events before Atlanta's Friday night world premiere of the Georgia-filmed historical adventure film. June 9, 1956."
