- Newspaper caption attached to print verso: "Famous Wesley Oak, on St. Simon's Island, near Frederica, Ga., where John Wesley preached in the early days of the Georgia colony. This striking view of the historic old tree is of particular interest at the present moment, when final plans are being made for the Ecumenical Conference of the Methodist Church which will be held in Atlanta, October 16-25." The photo was copyrighted by "DeGroot" and used "by permission" in the AJC.
