- An episode of City-Span, a broadcast service for and about the Savannah community, produced by Savannah's Public Information Office. City-Span covers the events leading up to the 1996 Summer Olympics and the Olympic yachting competition to be held just outside of Savannah. This episode focuses on the arrival of the Olympic flag in Savannah. On September 10, 1992, the Olympic flag arrived in Savannah after the 1992 Barcelona games. The city of Savannah took great measures to prepare for the arrival of the flag, sprucing up the city so it could look its best. More than 15,000 people came out on a rainy day to see the arrival of the flag. Speakers at the flag arrival ceremony include Billy Payne of the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games, Georgia Governor Zell Miller, and Savannah Mayor Susan Weiner. A Children's' Parade of Nations was held on the same day with flags from all around the world being paraded through Savannah. Each Savannah school was assigned a country to represent in the parade, bearing that country's flag and expressing elements of that nation's culture. Some of Georgia's 1992 Olympians marched in the parade as well and were honored in front of city hall.
