- Hosted by Carol Bell. Segment one: Flooded property purchases, 0:00-5:49. Civic Magazine covers a press conference at city hall announcing the purchase of flood-prone properties in Savannah. The properties were bought in order to construct a water retention system to prevent future flooding in the future. Savannah was undertaking this project in conjunction with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency, who would reimburse them for the purchases. Speakers at the press conference include Mayor Floyd Adams, Jr., City Manager Michael Brown, and Alderman David Jones. Segment two: CDBG tour, 5:49-16:30. City officials and agency representatives tour areas aided by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and see the improvements that the grants have brought. Places on the tour include a shelter for displaced families, the Family Resource Center and St. Pius Gym, and the Charity Hospital. Interviewees in the segment include Alderman David Jones, Alderman Courtney Flexon, Alderman Gwendolyn Goodman, and Alderman Clifton Jones, Jr. Following the tour, an award ceremony is held to recognize human and economic development agencies for their hard work and excellent use of block grants. Alderman Ellis Cook announces eighteen agencies to be recognized. Segment three: Family Resource Center, 16:30-24:10. Civic Magazine covers a ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand re-opening of the St. Pius Gym at the Family Resource Center, renovated by the Youth Futures Authority using $90,000 of block grant money. A youth choir opens the ceremony, followed by speeches by Mayor Floyd Adams, Jr. and Alderman Gwendolyn Goodman, and a closing song from the choir. Segment four: Southside issues, 24:10-27:13. Civic Magazine covers a reception hosted by the Southside Council Chamber of Commerce for Southside business owners to get to know their representatives. Interviewees at the reception include Jet Angel, Chairman of the Southside Council Chamber of Commerce, Alderman George A. Zettler, and Alderman Clifton Jones, Jr.
