Speakers include City Manager Michael Brown and Mayor Floyd Adams, Jr., followed by a flag raising and singing of the national anthem. Segment two: United Way 2002 Kickoff Ceremony, 5:45-24:09. United Way 2002 fundraising kicks off in Savannah, with a city-wide goal of $210,000. Speakers at the kickoff event include Savannah Central Services Director Carol Bell, City Manager Michael Brown, United Way Campaign Coordinator Susan Hancock, Parent and Child Development official Cynthia Heil, Margaret Hart-Williams of Hospice Savannah Inc., and Stephanie Hawkins, United Way City Campaign Chair. Segment three: 2002 Savannah Neighborhood Convention, 24:09-25:12. The seventh annual gathering of Savannah's neighborhood associations to honor restoration and preservation improvement projects, educate on fair housing policies, and share information on how to improve quality of life around Savannah. Civic Magazine interviews Taffanye Young, Director of Community Development and Planning, about the benefits of the annual convention for individual neighborhood associations. Segment four: Art Gallery opens on MLK Boulevard, 25:12-35:32. The Dimensions Gallery Ltd. opening on MLK Boulevard showcases both amateur and professional artists, furthering Savannah's efforts to revitalize the MLK corridor. Speaking at the ribbon cutting ceremony are Savannah Development and Renewal Authority (SDRA) Board Vice Chairman Richard Shinhoster, SDRA Program Manager Aubrey Thagard, Dimensions proprietor Denise Nickles, Mayor Floyd Adams, Jr., and Alderman at Large Pete Liakakis.
