A Save-a-Lot grocery store opens up in Savannah, and Alderman Ellis Cook is on hand with Save-a-Lot management and local dignitaries to celebrate the opening of the new store. Alderman Cook talks about his hopes for how the store will effect the local economy, and the convenience of shopping there. Freddie Patrick, president of Eastside Concerned Citizens, welcomes Save-a-Lot to the community and talks about meeting with management about their desire to enrich the community and work with residents. Segment two: Diaspora Marketplace on MLK Boulevard, 2:34-23:35. Ceremony welcoming Diaspora Marketplace, which sells imported African merchandise, to the Savannah community. Speakers at the ceremony include Assistant City Manager Israel Small, Reverend James Swanson, Alderman Ellis Cook, Savannah Development and Renewal Authority (SDRA) Chairman Roy Jackson, Alderman David Jones, City Manager Michael Brown, SDRA board member Ralph Zezza, Richard Mopper, president of the Downtown Business Association, SDRA executive James Riles, District 8 Vice Chairman Priscilla D. Thomas, and Diaspora Marketplace proprietor Richard Shinhoster. Segment three: Savannah named Top 5 Sweet Spot by Hershey's,23:35-. The Hershey Foods Corporation named Savannah as one of the top 5 "Sweet Spots" in the nation, and contributed $5,000 to the Greenbriar Children's Center in Savannah. Mayor Floyd Adams, Jr. received the award from the Hershey's executives. Speaking at the ceremony were Christine Dugan from Hershey's, Mayor Floyd Adams, Jr., Robert Malnut from the Greenbriar board of directors, and Yvette Johnson Higgins, director of Greenbriar.
