The Stad Amsterdam, the first clipper ship built in a century, made port at Savannah and the city council was invited to come and see the the unique vessel. Alderman Tony Thomas speaks about his experiences seeing the ship and talking to its crew, and what it means for the Stad Amsterdam to come to Savannah for its first port of call in the United States. Segment two: Savannah Chatham County Fair Housing Council luncheon and awards ceremony, 2:45-35:13. The council formed to help secure fair housing standards for all of the county's residents by preventingsubprime housing loans from lending institutions. At the luncheon, speeches are made by WJCL television news anchor Tim Calhoun, city alderman Ellis Cook, state senator Regina Thomas, state senator Vincent Forte, and council director Wayne Dawson about the seriousness of predatory lending and the success of the program in helping the community and ensuring fairer housing loans for Chatham county residents.
