- Description:
- Savannah, Ga. President St., Showing U. S. Post Office and Court-House and Chatham Co. Court House Verso: President St., Showing U. S. Post Office and Court House and Chatham County Court House. President Street, one of the oldest thoroughfares in Savannah, was originally called King Street, but after the Revolution was renamed, signifying the change of ruling power from a King to a President. The half million dollar marble Post Office building, and the County Court House (erected in 1889) are located on it, as is also the Telfair Art Academy. This colorized postcard depicts the U. S. Post Office and Courthouse's (Tomochichi Federal Building's) original north facade, and an extended view along West President Street showing buildings on the opposite side of the street and the Chatham County Courthouse.
