- Memorial Bridge, Savannah, Georgia Verso: Save 6 miles/Avoid city traffic/ On U.S. 17-A-Official Short Route The Eugene Talmadge Bridge Savannah, Georgia. The new Eugene Talmadge Memorial Bridge is dedicated as a memorial to the later former Governor of Georgia,was built at a cost of $14,600,000 [sic]. The structure is 6,034 ft. long, with a vertical clearance of 135 feet over the Savannah River. Rising above the congested area it affords a beautiful panoramic view of Savannah, while providing a time and mileage saving route for local or through traffic. This colorized postcard, published compliments of Coastal Highway District of Georgia, is an aerial view of the west side of Savannah's downtown and the Talmadge Bridge. The view extends to Ann Street on the east and shows industrial buildings west of the bridge.
