Dedication
J
The 1984 Quadrangle Staff and Senior Class
are honored to dedicate the 1984 Quadran-
gle to Dr. Max C. Estes. Dr. (Doc) Estes has
been serving LaGrange College since 1962
as the Chairman of the division of Fine Arts
and Professor of Speech and Drama. Doc has
been interacting in the lives of the students
through show productions, directing, and
teaching; and as a vital part of student life,
he has become a cherished friend. While at
LaGrange College, Doc has presented over
100 plays and musicals on the stages of
Dobbs, Price Theatre, and Callaway Gar-
dens. His work has not only touched the
college campus but the community and state
as well. It is very exciting to know that LC
has such great pride in someone as deserving
as Doc Estes.

Homecoming Hill Run
"II
In keeping with the spirit of
Homecoming, the SGA sponsored a
Hill Run for LC students, faculty,
and administration. Two races were
run: one for females and one for
males. The women ran the course
one time which was the equivalent
of a mile. Gerri Wright captured
first place with a time of 6 minutes
15 seconds. Rene Eller placed sec-
ond, and Latrisha King came in
third place. The men ran the course
three times which was the equiv-
alent of three miles. Ray Lail placed
first with a tune of 15 minutes and
41 seconds. David Shealy and Dar-
ryl Hodge placed second and third
respectively.

The Gong Show
Homecoming Week 1983 began
with a gong as students competed in
the SGA sponsored "Gong Show."
An array of talent and stand-up
comedy was judged by an outstand-
ing team: Nancy Alford, Dr. Mur-
phy, and Robyn Carlton. Paul Bai-
ley captured first place with his
original lyrics to Kenny Rogers'
"Lady" which Paul entitled "Gra-
vy." Competition continued to
mount as the campus organizations
battled against each other in an all-
out war: Slop Fight! 1 . Ammunition
ranged from flour to mud, raw eggs
to ketchup, and water balloons to
rotten tomatoes.

During May Day Week, the SGA
sponsored an all-male beauty pag-
eant (with a twist). This was no or-
dinary beauty pageant since the
contestants dressed as females. The
ten contestants competed in even-
ing gown, bathing suit, and talent.
Tour finalists were named, and Mr.
Panther was determined from these
four finalist following a question
and answer session. Phyllis (Phil)
Dodson received the distinct honor
and title of Mr. Panther while
Chrissy (Chris) Rumble, Stu Ellen
(Stu) Marshall, and Trances
(Trank) Sharp placed second, third,
and fourth respectively.

Softball
The 1984 Softball Season urns
definitely a learning season. After
having folded the previous year, this
year's team was determined to stick
together through thick or thin, win
or lose. The Lady Panthers did man-
age to win a few games and give a
good showing in region and district
tournaments, but nothing can ever
take the place of experience. Van
Keys, graduate student at West
Georgia College, assumed the posi-
tion of coach, and he gave his best to
develop a foundation for women's
softball in the future. The team will
lose a fourth of its players to gradu-
ation, and there is a very good
chance that a district title will come
in the near future.
