In Memory of Dr. Jennie Lee Epps
who was completely and unselfishly
devoted to the profession of teaching
who imparted to her students a spark
which kindled into a love of literature
a love that was so much a part of her
that it sparkled in her eyes and rippled
in her speech
who was as gentle as the delicate violets
she lovingly tended
who had in her personality a wonderful
blend of queenly dignity and a delight-
ful sense of humor
who was at home among great men and
great literature
who was a great lady and remains an
inspiration

Student Government Association
Every student at LaSrange College is a member of the Student
Government Association, while the Student Government Council
is elected by the votes of the entire student body.
Each year the Council arrives early to help in the orientation
program for new students. This program is brought to a conclusion
with a formal pledge service in which all new students are granted
full membership in the association.
The purpose of the Student Government Association is to main-
tain the highest standards of conduct and scholarship, and to
assume the direction of all matters concerning the college life not
reserved to the jurisdiction of the administration and faculty. A
spring retreat enables the Council to make new plans for the
progress of the school.

The Student Christian Association is affiliated with the Y. W. C. A.
and Y. M. C. A. and is represented at each state and national
conference. Each student is invited to participate actively in the
work of this organization by becoming a member of one of the five
committees: recreation, worship, world-relatedness, social service,
and publicity.
The committees either serve the campus directly or seek to edu-
cate the students on local, national, and international affairs.
Activities range from supporting Darji, a small Polish boy suffering
from tuberculosis, to contributing to World University Service, an
organization to aid college students all over the world. Worship
services are led by the Student Christian Association, and this group
also seeks to inform the students of the significance of outstanding
literary works through a Book-of-the-Quarter study.
The association is directed by a cabinet composed of the officers,

The Art League
The Art League is a comparatively young organization on
campus, having as its purpose to promote interest and
awareness in art to all students rather than only to art
majors, by having guest speakers, art exhibits and demon-
strations of crafts presented on campus.
Annually field trips are taken to Atlanta to view exhibits.
Many Art League members have entered works in competi-
tion; this year entries were submitted to the Art Exhibit at
Wesleyan College in Macon and to the show at Piedmont
Park in Atlanta in the spring.
Visitors on campus this year included Robert E. L. Con-
nell, Art Editor for the Atlanta-Journal-Constitution Maga-
zine, and Dr. Reginal O. Poland, Director of the Atlanta Art
Association.
Membership is open to art majors, and all students may
be eligible for affiliate membership by expressing a genuine
interest in art.
