^0 the c5Alumnae: the daughters of
LaQrange Qollege who in their varied
Unes of activity have ever brought honor
and fame to their c^lma o^ater and
whose loyalty and ideals have been an
inspiration to those following in their
steps, we, the students of ILaQrange
QoUege, gratefully dedicate this volume
of '^he Quadranlge.

\

Gay throngs of joyous maidens have none forth
From L. C.'s cloistered u-alls and ivy-hung.

Some now renoivned ; some unknoivn to fame,
With countless deeds of happy days unsung.

These halls they croicdeil, clattering on the stair;

They danced and jested to siceet music loiv.
Like sili'er shadoics drifted dreamily:

Like moonlit phantoms through the past they go.

Here they lived and sa-2v hut dimly life's fair dream;

Here in silence strove for ivistlom from afar:
Saw here the shadoivs sifted lacc-likc through the trees.

Stark white beneath a vault of moon and stars.

They found here peace, a sanctuary siveet

Within the rejuge that these icalls embrace;

Courage they found, perchance to face defeat:

Antl faith and hope and love, the croiuning grace.

Our days within these walls, like theirs, have fled :
H e find as noiv we backward trace once more

The thread of life that passing years have spun,
Our memories , like theirs, a golden store.

U e treasure an affection that transcends

The dazzling glitter of mere earthly things.

This heritage is yours to carry on

And to enrich by all that your life brings;

To cherish ivith a joyful loyalty.

And as the shining future is unrolled.
May it be jewelled u'ith victories nobly icon;

LaGrange is yours forever to uphold.

Our task has bee l^
to embody in this

the spirit u/hlch has

to portray our Colleger

QreetingSy (Alumnae

Tf) you, individually, my dear alumnae, whether you dwell in the bleak north
or in the southern sunny isles or on the far western plains or in the islands
of the sea wherever your footsteps have wandered, I send you p;reetings.

Be assured that though you are gone your place here has been filled through
the changing years by those whose chief desire has been to be worthy to follow in
\our footsteps along the shining pathway that leads to knowledge.

Know also that we who are here are dreaming the same dreams, following the
same stars and nurturing the same hopes that you dreamed and followed and nurtured
\A hile you were here. And, oh, what glorious dreams, what shining stars, what
wistfid hopes.

We do not ask that you remember us, for we know that you cannot forget.
You cannot put aside the memory of those dear, dead days of long ago. Now and
then the recollection of some joyous experience must luiexpectedl^' come to you out
of the mist of forgotten years and you come back for a fleeting moment to live again
in the old college halls.

Greetings to you, dear ladies; greetings, with the wish that through the years
to come your happiest memories shall be those of the old campus and the honored
halls of L. C, the dear mother of you all whose happiness and welfare are her fondest
desire and in whose every achievement dwells her deepest pride.

Sincerely yours,

Te^. 8. 'Thompson,

President.

a student. Elifribility to this club is conditioned upon the literary hours taken and
the character and academic standing of the student. It was established at the recom-

LaGRANGE. GEORGIA

M anufacturers of

Cotton Fabrics

Besides manufacturing high class textiles, The Dunson Mills is inter-
ested in the welfare and happiness of its employees.

Among other things done for the children, a grammar school of six

grades, housed in a commodious two-story brick building, and a domes- {

tic science department housed in a separate building, especially built and |

equipped, are maintained under the supervision of the most competent |

teachers. For those under school age, there is a beautiful little kinder- t

...

garten, with two teachers, at which there is a daily attendance of from j

sixty to seventy small tots. To enliven the interest of parents in the |

children's work, monthly mothers' meetings are held at the grammar

school. !

Modern churches are provided, and there is also a lodge room for use }
of secret orders. I

For recreation of the grown-ups, a brass band, with paid instructor, is {
maintained: a baseball team is fostered and encouraged, and a splendid
ball park, with a grandstand seating one thousand, is provided.

A graduate nurse is regularly employed and on duty in the village {

homes each day, looking after the health of the employees and the families, i

and a $500 life insurance policy is carried free of charge on the life of |

each employee. {
