LA (iKAN.ii; FEMALE COLLEGE.

This l^t course reaches beyond the regular College Course. I' or
the graduates in the regular course, it offers extraordinary facilities
in enabling them to extend their course of collogiatc instruction ta
a higher decree than can be had in any similar institution in the
Union. The Alumnrc of this, and any other college, may attend
and study this course with much profit.

MOKAL IMPROVEMENT.

While the mental activities of the pupil arc bcin- developed. I lcr
moral and religious culture will be as constantly sought. In addi-
tion to her attainments in Literature and Science, the graduate of
this Institution, in leaving her Alma Mater, will generally carry
with her those principles of Christian morality which will guide
her through life, sustain her in death, and crown her in Heaven.

The graduating class of the session just past, without an exocp.
tion, boc ample testimony to this striking and beautiful fact.

Retigioua principles are inculcated without regard to sectarian
bias.

GO\ KRXMKNT.

and demerit will be maintained and enforced in the government of
the student. Any student who receives in a given time, such a
number of demerit as assures the Facility that her connection with

moro of the Professors of the College. A weekly p.ayer-meeting J

, is also held in the College by the Faculty, for the benefit of allnotf

or under any circumstances, to contract any debt with any merchant
or other person, without the presence and permission of one of the
Professors of the College.

BUILDINGS.

The buildings are large, commodious, and well ventilated. There
are rooms in the College sufficient to board one hundred pupils, with
convenience.

The main College building is a splendid and beautiful granite
htrutture, with large windows and doors, after the order of the sec-
ond Gothic. In front the Architrave and Cornice are supported
by massive Doric columns, which give to the building an appropri-
ate air of stately grandeur and classic elegance. The buildings and
its outfit, &c, cost originally, about eighty thousand dollars, and
are inferior to none in the Southern country.

LOCATION.

The College is located on a high eminence over-looking the city,
land also the surrounding country for thirty and forty miles in the
'distance. Thirty acres of land surround the College. A forest of

The Trustees diminished the number of pupils in this department,
