African American teacher, a native of Gough, Georgia, and wife of William E. Bessent. (1913-2007) She taught in the Burke County School System from 1948-1983. She was also an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Order of Eastern Stars, Golden Circle, Retired Teachers Association, Georgia Association of Educators and Fayetteville State Alumni. - External Identifiers:
