- Description:
- This bridge between 13th street of Augusta, Georgia and Georgia Ave, North Augusta, South Carolina was the major trade route and only bridge between the two communities over the Savannah River. It was originally built by James U. Jackson in 1891. Mr Jackson envisioned this bridge as a vital need for the development of North Augusta. 1897 marked the beginning of trolley service from Augusta to North Augusta over this bridge. The service eventually provided transportation between Augusta, Georgia and Aiken, South Carolina
