The Atlanta Constitution was first published in 1968 by Carey Wentworth Styles, and Atlanta Lawyer. The newspaper would pass through several hands including those of Atlanta Mayors Arnold Hemphill and Evan Howell. In 1950 Cox Enterprise, owner of the Constitution's rival paper the Atlanta Journal bought the Constitution as well but the two papers were merged into one as the Atlanta Journal-Constitution until 1982. - Local Identifier:
