- In this interview, Jim Sharp recalls his experiences serving in the United States Army during World War II. He remembers growing up in Jacksonville, Florida, and attending The Citadel. He was drafted just short of completing his studies there and trained as a radio operator. His unit was sent to Italy and he describes his work coding and decoding messages. He recalls his brother's service in the Philippines and describes his brother's escape from an unmarked Japanese prison ship which was sunk by US forces. He remembers his post-war education and careers, including purchasing and running a radio station in Vero Beach, Florida.
