- In this interview, Nate Perkins describes his time in the U.S. Army during the Gulf War. He recalls his early life in poverty with twelve siblings. He remembers his grandfather, who had fought in World War II and Korea, and the effect his funeral had on him. He explains how patriotism was instilled in him and how it affects his life. He describes the living conditions he has seen around the world and compares our culture in contrast. He recalls growing up in a time of segregation and the death of his sister. He displays his book, "Nate Perkins Live."
