Tyrone L. Brooks, Sr. (1945- ) is a civil rights activist who began working for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) as a volunteer at the age of fifteen. He became a full-time staff member to the organization in 1967 and later became its Communications Director. In 1980, Brooks was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives and continues to serve as a Georgia legislator, representing District 63, which encompasses parts of Douglas and Fulton Counties. Brooks is President of the Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials and is a member of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus. - Local Identifier:
