The SS Hoke Smith, named after Georgia Governor Hoke Smith, was a Liberty ship. The Liberty ships were a series of cargo ships built by the United States during World War II. The steamship Hoke Smith was launched in 1934 and sold into private hands in 1947. It was scrapped in 1967. - Local Identifier:
