- View of the "Golden Tornado '52" created for the Homecoming festivities at Georgia Tech. The structure was built by the students to honor John Heisman leading the school to its first national championship in 1917, and used to celebrate achievements of excellence in football thereafter.
Georgia Institute of Technology, commonly referred to as Georgia Tech, was founded in 1885. The institution opened in 1888 as a trade school, and has developed into a technological university.
