A native Atlantan, Louise Suggs won several golf championships before becoming a professional in 1948. In 1949, she won the U.S. Open and became one of the founding members of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA). During her professional career she won fifty-eight events and was an inductee into the LPGA Hall of Fame, and the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, among others. - Local Identifier:
