- View of firefighters attempting to put out a fire at the Winecoff Hotel (now the Ellis Hotel) in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Winecoff Hotel was built in 1913 on the 100 block of Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta. The hotel burned in a fire in 1946 that killed 119 people. The fire prompted immediate changes to building and fire codes. The building re-opened in the 1950's as the Peachtree On Peachtree Hotel. In 2007 the building was reopened as the Hotel Ellis.
