Walter Franklin George (1878-1957) was born in Preston, Georgia. He became a lawyer and later served as a judge for the Supreme Court of Georgia from 1917-1922. He resigned from this position in 1922 to run for the U.S. Senate, where he served from 1923-1957. - Local Identifier:
