Camp Toccoa was a training camp for paratroopers during World War II, located near the town of Toccoa, Georgia. The facility was built by the Georgia National Guard in 1938, and initially named after General Robert Toombs of the Confederate Army, but was re-named when the U.S. Army managed the facility beginning in 1942. The 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment were among the units who trained there. The camp was closed after World War II. - Local Identifier:
