Glynco Naval Air Station, established in 1942, was located north of Brunswick Georgia in Glynn County. The Naval Air Station was home to the Navy's fleet of airships (also known as blimps), which were used to patrol the shores looking for German submarines during World War II. The air base was disestablished in 1958, and the blimp hangers were destroyed in 1971. The property is now home to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. - Local Identifier:
