- Description:
- View of unidentified children at a dance, most likely in the Community House, in Richmond Hill, Georgia.
Ways station was established in 1856, where the Savannah, Albany, and Gulf Railroad passed through the rice fields of Richard Arnold and William J. Way. In 1925, entrepreneur and auto maker, Henry Ford purchased a large amount of land in and around Ways Station. His interest lay in the improvement of life in Ways Station; he hired residents to a variety of jobs creating a community for themselves. In 1941 the town's name was changed from Ways Station to Richmond Hill. The city was incorporated in 1962. - Local Identifier:
