- This recording opens with an introduction of the program by Boyd Lewis. The first segment, which begins at 1:40, is a feature about John Lewis and his work in furthering the right to vote for African Americans. His work with the Student Non Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) in the 1960s in Selma, Alabama, is covered. The program features audio excerpts from Lewis. The second segment, which begins at 11:43, is a recording of a song titled "Southwind" by artist Berne Poliakoff. The third segment, which begins at feature about 13:30, is a feature about Partlow State School and Hospital for the Mentally Retarded in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The program focuses on the terrible conditions at the hospital, and reforms that have come in the wake of an expose by the New York Times.
