- This recording opens with singer Bessie Jones' rendition of "Preachin the Blues" and an introduction of the program by Boyd Lewis. The first story, which begins at 1:36, is an examination of the urban policies of the Reagan administration. The story features audio recorded at the National League of Cities Congress in Atlanta, including Indianapolis, Indiana mayor Bill Hudnut who read a telegram from the President-Elect outlining his priorities. Audio clips featuring commentory by Reagan senior policy advisor John McClory, Atlanta mayor Maynard Jackson. Anniston, Alabama mayor Gertrude Williams, E. H. Upton, city councilman of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Jesse Ratley, city councilwoman of Newport News, Virginia are featured. The second story, which begins at 11:01, is a feature on author Eudora Welty that includes pieces of an interview of her by Gene Moore. The third story, which begins at 19:35, is an historical feature on the Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955-1956 that features audio of Rosa Parks; Reverend William J. Powell of Montgomery; Alabama State professor Benjamin Simms and Montgomery Improvement Association President, Johnnie Carr. The program ends with a sign off by Boyd Lewis.
