Decatur is the county seat of DeKalb County, Georgia. It was incorporated in 1823 and named after Stephen Decatur who was a U.S. Naval hero. Decatur Female Seminary was established in 1889 as an all women's college. The school was renamed after Agnes Irvine Scott in 1906.
