Decatur is the county seat of DeKalb County, Georgia. It was incorporated in 1823 and named after Stephen Decatur who was a U.S. Naval hero. Decatur Female Seminary was established in 1889 as an all women's college. The school was renamed after Agnes Irvine Scott in 1906. The school is located on College Avenue in Decatur, Georgia.
