Vernon Jordon (1935- ), a native of Atlanta, earned his law degree from Howard University in 1960 and subsequently worked at the law office of Donald L. Hollowell, a prominent civil rights attorney. Jordan later served as the director of the Southern Regional Council's Voter Education Project from 1965 to 1970. He then became executive director of the United Negro College Fund in New York. From 1971 to 1981, he served as executive director of the National Urban League. - Local Identifier:
