Wyche Fowler (1940- ) was elected to the Atlanta City Council in 1970 as a Democrat and became president of the city's governing body in 1974. He served in the United States House of Representative from 1977 to 1986, representing Atlanta's Fifth District, and served in the United States Senate from 1987 to 1992. He later became ambassador to Saudi Arabia under the Clinton Administration. - Local Identifier:
