Coretta Scott King (1927-2006), the wife of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was a Civil Rights activist who worked alongside her husband to promote nonviolent social change in race relations in the United States during the 1950s and 1960s. After her husband's assassination, she founded the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Change in Atlanta in 1968. When she died in 2006, King was interred next to her husband at the King Center in Atlanta, Georgia. - External Identifiers:
