In 1929, Martin Luther King, Jr. was born in the two-story, Queen Anne style house at 501 Auburn Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia. King lived there with his family until 1941. Restoration of the King birth home began in 1974 as part of the National Park Service's plan to establish and administer the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site, which includes the birth home, ebenezzer Baptist Church, and the civil rights leader's gravesite. - Local Identifier:
