East Lake Meadows, a 650-unit public housing project composed of two-story brick buildings, duplexes, and a high rise, was built in 1970 in eastern Atlanta, adjacent to East Lake Golf Course. The housing project's reputation for violence later earned it the nickname of "Little Vietnam" among locals. The housing project was demolished and the site redeveloped into a mixed-income community, the Villages of East Lake, in the mid-1990s. - Local Identifier:
