Susie LaBord was a social activist who worked on behalf of the urban poor. She served as the Grady Homes Tenant Association President. In 1972, she became the first resident of an Atlanta public housing project to serve as a voting member of the Atlanta Housing Authority. She also served on boards and committees for United Way, the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Non-Violent Social Change, and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). - Local Identifier:
