A. Reginald Eaves served as one of Maynard Jackson's closest political advisors during his campaign for Atlanta mayor in 1973. In 1974, Mayor Jackson appointed Eaves the Commissioner of Public Safety for the City of Atlanta. Eaves resigned the position in 1978 amid a cheating scandal regarding police promotion examinations. Within six months, Eaves was elected to the Fulton County Commission. - Local Identifier:
