View of Brevet Major General John Murray Corse probably in the Allatoona Pass on the Western and Atlantic Railroad in Bartow County, Georgia.
John Murray Corse (1835-1893) was a Union officer during the Civil War. In 1861, he joined the 6th Iowa Infantry as it major. He was eventually promoted to a brevet major general after his role in the Union's successful capture of Allatoona Pass in northwest Georgia. - Local Identifier:
