- View of the residence of Dr. Elijah L. Connally in West End, Georgia (later annexed into the city of Atlanta), with members of the Connally family gathered for the birthday celebration of Dr. Connally's mother, Mrs. T. W. Connally.
The Dr. Elijah L. Connally residence, on Ashby Street in West End, Georgia (later annexed into the city of Atlanta), was originally built by John Thrasher in 1858. In August 1864, Confederate General John B. Hood occupied the home. Dr. Connally purchased the residence in 1887 and subsequently remodeled it. Known as "The Homestead," it was demolished in 1931. - Local Identifier:
