William Yates Atkinson (1854-1899) was an attorney and Democratic politician from Georgia. In 1879, he was appointed the solicitor of the Coweta Judicial Circuit Court. He later represented Coweta County in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1886 to 1894 and became Speaker of the House in 1892. He then served as the governor of Georgia from 1894 to 1898. - Local Identifier:
