The original Atlanta City Hall was built in 1854 on land bounded by Hunter Street (now Martin Luther King Jr. Drive), McDonough Road (now Capitol Avenue), Collins Street (now Washington Street) and Mitchell Street. The building simultaneously served as the Fulton County Courthouse. The building was demolished in 1884 to make room for the Georgia State Capitol Building, which still stands on the site. - Local Identifier:
