Myrta Lockett Avary (1857-1946) was born in Halifax County, Virginia. She married Dr. James Corbin Avary of Atlanta, Georgia in 1884. Avary was a writer for the Atlanta Journal, Atlanta Constitution, and Atlanta Georgian, as well as other publications throughout the United States. She is the author of "A Virginia Girl in the Civil War," "Uncle Remus and the Wren's Nest," and "Dixie after the War." - Metadata URL:
