- World's Smallest Plane to Compete at National Air Races; San Diego, Calif. - Reported to the world's smallest plane, it developes (sic) a top speed of 225 miles per hour. Constructed in spare time by five young members of the Consolidated Aircraft Company here, they will enter it in the National Air Races at Cleveland this year. Twelve feet long, it has a wing spread of fourteen feet and though carrying but twelve gallons of gasoline it has a cruising radius of 525 miles. It is powered with a 90 h.p. Pobjoy Motor and weighs but 404 pounds. Photo shows- The small plane during preliminary tests with its pilot and co-constructor, Tony Levier.
