Judge Charles Whitefoord Smith (1856-1923) was born in Beaufort, South Carolina. He attended primary and secondary schools in Atlanta, Georgia, before attending Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. After college, Smith was admitted to the Georgia bar at the age of nineteen, and in 1876, he started practicing law. Smith served as the judge of the Stone Mountain circuit court and later appointed to the Georgia Court of Appeals. - Local Identifier:
