Whitehall Street was named for a famous tavern, the “Whitehall,” known for the whitewash paint used on its exterior. The tavern was built in 1835 and was located in the 14th District on Land Lot 108. It was owned by Charner Humphries. The street was renamed Peachtree Street and was home to the commercial district of Atlanta, Georgia. - Local Identifier:
