Swift Specific Company was incorporated June 13, 1879. The only medicine manufactured by the company was the famous S.S.S. Remedy, also known as Swift’s Specific for the blood. The building was built on the corner of Hunter and Butler Streets in 1883 and was three stories tall. The company employed approximately thirty-five men and ten women. The company sold in the United States and in foreign countries, with a depot set up in London, England. - Local Identifier:
